ABOUT

We are a group of young professionals aiming to develop new therapy for vascular regeneration in various diseases.

Our program conducts leading interdisciplinary research in the field of heart, lung, and vascular biology using patient- specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), vessel, lung, and intestinal organoids, machine learning, single cell RNA/ATAC sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics for disease modeling and high-throughput drug screening. Benefitting from an established translational research study set-up, we have access to a large patient cohort providing human tissue for the generation of iPSCs, organoids, and single cell transcriptomic profiling. We are interested in exploring the role of vascular insufficiency in causing cardiopulmonary diseases (e.g., congenital heart defects, pulmonary atresia, pulmonary arterial hypertension, bronchopulmonary dysplasia etc.), and to understand the genetic and epigenetic underpinnings of the variation in disease phenotypes and drug response in a personalized manner.

Our team works together with developmental and stem cell biologists, data scientists, clinicians, bioengineers, and entrepreneurs with the common goal of accelerating discovery and facilitating bench-to-bedside translational science.

CORE VALUES

Prioritizing scientific integrity over publishing

Prioritizing ethical standards, transparency, scientific rigor, and unbiased reporting is crucial. If there are data points you lack confidence in, communicate with the Principal Investigator and repeat experiments with appropriate controls. This not only ensures reliable research outcomes but also cultivates trust within the scientific community. In the pursuit of knowledge, integrity should always lead the way. Please review NIH policies & procedures for promoting scientific integrity

Be CREATIVE, and take on challenges

Take on challenging project, think independently and think outside of the box. Come up with creative ideas and design the simplest experiments to test your hypothesis. Make sure we always focus on how to build real value for the world in everything we do.

No complaining, and work as a TEAM

No complaining. No blaming. No justifying. Make sure we only spend energy on solving the problem itself. Assume positive intent in all interactions and work toward a common solution; Communicate openly and constructively. We are not just co-workers, we care deeply about each other.

Embrace failures and disappointments

What may initially seem like a setback often leads to unexpected outcomes, eventually aligning in ways that appear as a stroke of incredible good fortune. So, keep moving forward.

PRINCIPLE OF RESEARCH

“The supreme task of the physicist is to arrive at those universal elementary laws. The state of mind which enables a man to do work of this kind is akin to that of the religious worshiper or the lover; the daily effort comes from no deliberate intention or program, but straight from the heart. “

- Albert Einstein, Physical Society, Berlin, for Max Planck’s sixtieth birthday, 1918

HAVING FUN :)

“There comes a time in every life when the past recedes and the future opens. It’s that moment when you turn to face the unknown. Some will turn back to what they already know. Some will walk straight ahead into uncertainty. I can’t tell you which one is right. But I can tell you which one is more fun. “

- Philip H. Knight, Stanford MBA, 1962
